"Velvet" Written By Milena GruborA Poem by Milena Grubor![]() I never summoned what arrived, Yet still it fed on what survived. A velvet curse with hunger grim, A demon born from bone and limb. It came at dusk with poisoned grace, A demon leaning in my face. It traced my spine in crawling heat, And left me shattered at its feet. Was this some test of broken faith, Or punishment of mortal wraith? Do heavens crack for souls like mine, Or leave us lost to endless time? Some called it curse, invoked the priests, Yet none could pierce my mind’s dark mist; This demon, to whom no permission I gave, Shall follow me down into my grave. © 2026 Milena Grubor |
