Upon the cot of fevered breath,

She tasted first the kiss of Death.

The curse that claimed her mortal state,

Did twist her soul to seal their fate.

For they had sought to break and bend,

The faithful trust she chose to lend.

They struck the wound that would not mend,

And brought her living to an end.

A tremor shook her failing hand,

As truth obeyed her dread command.

The words she wrote upon the sand,

Became the law of this bleak land.

Her heart is turned to cold grey stone,

A silent, solitary throne.

The power seized is hers alone,

The dreadful truth that now is known.

Betrayal's blade that carved her pain,

Did freeze the moisture of the rain.

No tear will fall, no love remain,

She is a glacier in the plain.

The living now reside within her breast,

Where old affections found no rest.

She sealed them in a final test,

And buried them, where no light can be cast.

No pall she spread, no soil did turn,

No earthly flame their bodies burn.

It is her mind where they unlearn,

The life for which they fiercely yearn.

They walk the sunlit pathways, still unbound,

But in her heart, no pulse of them is found.

They speak to air, their voices lack all sound,

For they are spectral on her chosen ground.

She wrote their deaths, and therefore, they decay,

Within the truth her chilling lines display.

She claims the solace of the quiet way,

And seeks the peace She holds today.

Her sentences are chains of steel,

That keep the traitors from the real.

This power grants her wounds to heal,

The former sting, she ceases to feel.
