“Grotesque” Written By Milena Grubor

We lie to ourselves in the hush of night,

For gentle deceit makes the darkness light.
A whispered untruth, soft-spoken and deep,
The price we must pay to surrender to sleep.

Yet the subconscious keeps dreadful score,
It knows what we fear, what we ache for, and more..
The dreams left to rot, the selves never born,
The futures abandoned, tattered and torn.

It knows of the hollow guest we shutter away,
Entombed in the ribs where the shadows hold sway.
A tenant of silence, a sinister stain,
It waits without breath in the marrow of pain.

And each cursed night, when the eyelids descend,
When waking and dreaming grotesquely suspend.
That restless presence crawls up from below,
From pits of the psyche where damned secrets grow.

It gnaws at our thoughts with merciless grace,
Leaves scars that no dawn, nor time can erase.
We thrash for the morning, yet trapped in its snare,
Its talons sunk deep in the roots of despair.

At last comes the sun, pale comfort it brings,
We rise, don our masks, rehearse hollow things.
For none wish to see what writhes deep inside,
This grotesque thing the world taught us to hide.

Wow, this is a deeply emotive piece.

A bit intense, but also quite darkly psychological.

You have a gothic style to your writing. It’s rare and not everyone can write like this.

It takes some delicate skills to put these words together. So carefully thought of.

I’m more interested in psychology, as well as thriller and horror genres, especially stories that explore the darker side of the human mind.

2001 is a philosophical horror sci fi deconstruction of the human psychology of progress... i.e. the psychology of evolution beyond human. The movie is opaque, but read the Arthur C Clarke book... and then watch the movie. It's good stuff man... a spectacular exercise of the mind.
