Parched Pavements

The pavement is no longer thirsty
It is slaked with the blood of the urban warrior

It...
stop
just stop

the pavement is splattered with the hopes and dreams
of people getting money
getting paper
getting fame
getting all the things that they thought they wanted
'til their lives ended violently
foolishly
stupidly

the pavement is drunk on lifeblood and poured out liquor
it is sticky
its mucked up maw taking lost souls downward
taking young souls outward
taking mothers' tears inward

tasting
a sickly,salty,briny mix
a slipping,sliding,subtle mixture on the porous palate of this pavement
