What Lies Ahead

fear of the unknown

what lies ahead, i just don't know
and it scares me more than i can say
i'm afraid to be alone, to fail, to lose what
stability i have had in my life.
it is all about attitude in so many ways,
when i smile, think far ahead,
i can see that there is more for me than
i will ever know just sitting here.
but when i think to next week,
the next bend in the road, i'm paralyzed with fear,
for i know that the future means nothing
when you can't get through the now.
am i strong enough, patient enough, can i do this?
doubts, questions, fill my mind, weaken me,
i need some sign, something to guide me,
someone to tell me it will all be alright.
