The PlainsA Poem by MissRednot sure what inspired this one. it has been awhile!my toes are frozen and my legs are asleep the highway is long and boring but we keep driving past seven-elevens and circle k's my bladder is angry in protest
i look across the seat at him his face is dark with deep thought i open my mouth to talk but it seems like too much effort
minutes pass like hours i cough and look at him again he didn't even flinch what thought is worth holding onto?
my pepsi is hot in my cold hand i want to move my feet from the window pins and needles attack as i begin to settle back down again
once, out of the corner of my eye i see him begin to see me i try to look content why that is important, i don't know
oklahoma, i decide, isn't such a bad state serene in its blandness simple and solid like us we could live here someday. © 2008 MissRed |
