Monday's Notice

A Poem by Kristina Moulaison

Longing to retire, from

this relentless,

American dream-

we fumble, foraging

together for

seed, to lay our heads

down upon; carpet

under our

straining

backs. The night lit

forest arranged in our

tired,

glazed eyes, seems

so much

brighter than the

dimness of feeble

fluorescing light, each

boxed life

swaying

toward some...other,

setting sun
