New Friends

New Friends

A Poem by scarlynn

Twenty four hour nightmare
shelves stocked with "repressed memory"
by date
I should know by now.
Reverse expiration,
some sort of implosion I can't
predict enough to save in my
calendar with holes built in.
When the sun rose I
had nothing but lost sonnets in my eyes,
I had nothing to give him who
I dreamt of statically,
white noise crackling and
translating into my own words for the day.

Author's Note

scarlynn
I didn't have an exam on wednesday and I wanted the week to go by faster, so I went to sleep at 5 am on wednesday and every time I woke up, I'd take another sleeping pill to send myself back to sleep, not waking up until 11 am on thursday. The entire time I slept, I had one continuous nightmare.

Absolutely amazing. I liked the double meaning of "statically" which could also imply you dream of "him" continuously.
