DeterminedA Poem by MichaelaAs a little girl you were my example My superhero with a cape Everything in my life was ample I couldn't ask for anything more. As time moved forward Your violence opened my eyes All of my dreams were bordered Completely out of my reach. All I wanted was for you to be impressed It never worked in my favor Always disappointed raising your fist Eyes always shut, dreaming of a better place. Years seemed to drag on But one day I picked up and left You no longer had me to rely upon Somehow I still felt guilty No longer chained down by your burdens Finally spreading my wings, moving on Head up, facing my goals; Determined. I've put you behind me for good. © 2016 MichaelaReviews
