The way you left

The way you left

Poem about love and heartbreak

"

I still remember the way your lips touched my forehead the night we said our goodbyes. The gentle breeze blowing as you whispered you had found someone else. The way the tears fell silently from my eyes weightless but they seemed to carry the weight of the world. The way your hands once loving and warm felt cold and clammy. That night my world change, all the light was taken in a flash and I was left to drown in the darkness. The thought of death kept me company as your taillights faded away. I waited for hours hoping you would turn around and save me. Instead I felt the knife in my back twist when I realized you were never coming back. The truth is you were never mine, I was the temporary place holder until you found the one. You were too worried about being ridiculed and your social status for me to ever have a place in your heart. You see you taught me love isn’t always a two way street even when you give them everything it will never be enough for the wrong person.
