Who's That

Who's That

A Chapter by Marie Kinnett

It was Wednesday and she stayed at the RV while her grandparents went to the store. She went outside and was tanning when a shadow was casted over her. It was a boy about a year or two older than her. When she saw him, she sat up to look at him. Alex said, “Who are you?” He smiled and replied that his name was Jacob. Alex said, “Hi, Jacob. I’m Alex.” He smiled again and replied with, “I know.” Alex was confused and wondered how he knew her name. She was about to ask but it was like he knew what she was thinking. He said, “Your grandparents talk about you a lot when I’m here.” She replied with, “Oh.”

Alex hung out with Jacob until her grandparents were back. Jacob said he needed to go so they said bye and he left. She saw that he glanced back at her and saw worry on his face. She wondered why he looked worried but her grandpa called for her, so she came and asked “What?” Grandpa replied with, “Can you help us with the stuff?” Alex nodded. She helped with the stuff they bought and put it up. Then she went outside and helped get firewood for the fire. They had chicken and corn for dinner. Afterwards, Alex asked them about Jacob and they looked at her like she was crazy.

Grandma said, “Who is Jacob?” Alex was worried that Jacob was not who he said he was. Grandma said, “Alex, who is Jacob?” She snapped back into focus and said, “Oh, it is nobody, don’t worry.” She said, “I’m going to go to bed, good night.” She went inside the RV and went to sleep.
