Falling Snow

Falling Snow

A Poem by Marie Kinnett

Snow is falling
So are you
Without a warning
You fall for me too

Calling me damsel in distress
Your prince charming
Quietly I call out
From this tower

The one you locked me in
From this tower you created
I watch the snow fall
to the far away ground

All alone you leave me be
locked away from the world
I cry out to be free
A cry so... quiet
A cry so... pleading

Snow is falling
Now I am too
From this tower
I... let.. go

Falling with the snow
So peaceful
So quiet
 close my eyes
And.....exhale

This poem seems to be written in the same breath as all tragic love stories. But there comes a time where we realize we must let go of what no longer is healthy and serves us. But, then again, sometimes that's easier said than done. Or, other times, we realize we're the unhealthy parts of other peoples lives. There are many hard truths this poem delicately brushes by. And yet, even with the tragedy, there is a certain peace that is expressed in the end. Nice work :)

Thank you :)
The mix of fairy-tale imagery and quiet sadness is really striking. The ending lands with a peaceful kind of letting go. Lovely work.

For people living where it rarely snows, a good snowfall can be so peaceful, so calming, so soothing. I find that true here where I live, on the north end of Seattle. See if you can find a poem I wrote about a year ago when we had a very unusual snowstorm. It’s called Made New By Snow. Michael. A big deep breath may calm, but as you pointed out, we must remember to…….exhale!
