Shots Fired

Shots Fired

A Poem by Marie Kinnett

Sitting in my room
Chilling
Watching my show
When I hear

Kabow-Kabow-Kaboom

Each shot ringing in my ears
As I hit the floor
covering my head
waiting for the shots to end

Silence

I get up to check
Looking outside
Nothing there
Leave my room
Checking the camera

Shots fired
drive by at my house and my neighbors
All wondering why
Walking back inside

The silence
deafening
no more shots fired
waiting

Cops show
searching and looking
nothing they can do
gone they say

Shots fired
Lives almost lost
Driving holes in the concrete
Shots fired
and I drop

It's crazy how stuff like this is kind of common. It scares my dog ☹ This poem is great though, I really like the storytelling. Hope that stuff doesn't happen again twin
