A Poem

A Poem

A Poem by Marie Kinnett

Each line I write
I bleed with each key
spilling my heart
into each verse

People reach each line
writing comments and reviews
opinions and notions
Poem after poem

Some make you sad
or mad
some disappointed
or frustrated

Each poem
Each line and stanza
are written with so much time
but read in so little time

Each of us bare our soul into
every poem
some just ramble on

This is a poem
a poem of rambling
and nonsense

A poem worked on
time spent on each word
but read in so little time

A poem is a poem

I really like your choice of words. The simplicity really fits the idea behind the poem. I don't know if you even thought about it much while you were writing it, but it stood out to me and it's really well done :)

thank you I just wrote this because I was starting to get writers block
A poem, like so many things, returns to you what you put into it as a reader or as a writer. If you take the time to engage with it you’ll get a lot out of it but it is ultimately your decision either way. You’re probably missing out if you breeze through them all the time though.

I rarely ever read a poem once through. Even if it's simple I look to see if there was anything I may have overlooked. I try to get inside the mind of the writer for a short time.

I know the feeling you express here. I've had the same feelings. Years ago I used to get a lot of reviews. As the years have passed those reviews have dwindled down. Now I'm thankful for anything I get. I've learned to let things go. If no one comments, so be it. If it takes weeks before I get even 5 comments, so be it. I'm even thinking about not allowing a rating anymore.

If a reader only takes 5 seconds to read what I've posted, so be it. There's nothing I can do. We write because we love to write. For me, that's good enough. :)

I think this encompasses so much of what it feels like to write and share in a public space. Once our writing is out there, we can’t control how people respond to it. We also don’t know how it will make us feel until we get those comments or no one comments at all. But the act of sharing is an important part of growing as a writer—especially when we do get feedback that can help us see our writing differently. I felt all those things in your poem and recognized a lot of my own experience as a writer sharing online. Enjoyed reading your perspective here!
