Cracks

Cracks

A Poem by Marie Kinnett

They are always there,

but not always seen

The cracks-

not everyone notices

the ones in the road, in the mind, in life,

hidden beneath the surface

ignored, overlooked.

We don't pay enough attention

And these cracks-

they grow, they spread

until -BAM-

they shatter

And then, your blamed

Blamed for the cracks you couldn't control

for the cracks you let grow

for the cracks that broke you

When they finally notice

you are already down

and backed against a wall

pushed to the edge

They pick and pry

making it worse -bit-by-bit

till they snap

Like a thread

fragile thread

snapped in two

And when they snap

the become done

They're called dangerous,

insane, crazy even

But it's never really about the cracks anymore.

It's finally all laid bare -

front and center - all so clear

and suddenly

they say

"Go get help"

"Your losing it, man"

But it never gets easier

It never gets better or worse

when everyone's watching

Sometimes when you snap

your done, gone

Because your so tired

so worn out

so done with fighting

You give up

You give in

And then,

its your fault

Because YOU pushed them too far

and now -

the cracks have shattered

Because someone messed with the cracks

pushed them to a breaking point

And what's left?

Nothing but shattered pieces

So don't push the cracks to that point

Help fix them. Take the time

Because the cracks aren't just cracks

they're part of everyone

Everyone has them

hidden, invisible

waiting to show their scars

But here's the question:

Do you really care?

Your words are so tragic, yet so sound, the struggles never really hidden, yet never found.... not until its late and now its your "fault".

I know like they need to expand there knowledge like its a real thing wee aren't faking it.
Hello, Marie. Your words are tragic. It must be so hard to face those feelings apparently as of past and now and more than likely into the future. You obviously find that a terrible load to carry and, of course, it is. But in being prepared to put your situation and all its pain into the above post, you have shown great courage in very fine language and that should/could give you the strength and patience to wait until you find the right words to discuss how you feel with someone trusted and loved. Can you do that, is it possible? Yours is a very sad theme but be sure, you're a very good writer. N.B. Putting your feelings in words and now reading them, do YOU feel lighter and more content? Now seems you're holding the reins - and, also, learning how different you could feel. I hope and pray so.

Of courseee
Wow!

This is a cleverly written poem about our human "cracks" ....I liked the style and flow of this piece....

You take the reader on a journey....with compassion and honesty....

I liked these lines:

So don't push the cracks to that point
Help fix them. Take the time
Because the cracks aren't just cracks
they're part of everyone

Thanks for sharing this poem
