A Dream Of You

A Dream Of You

A Poem by Marie Kinnett

Laying my head up on your shoulder
I know its not real but a dream
Wishing for that one
The day to come

Closing my eyes believing you can be mine
Accepting that you're the one
Believing you can be the one
I wake up next to your side
Feeling the brush of your hand against my hair

Thinking I'm still dreaming
That dream of you
That one that takes a hold
As I take a hold of reality
Shaking off the bits that cling to me

A dream of you
is all I thought I had
When looking back
Realized now that you were there for me
Only I couldn't see that reality

Now you drag me back
from that dream of you
Placing the dream in a box
I walk to be next to you
Hand in hand, we walk away from that dream of you
