Edge JumpA Poem by M LamontGetting back into life.
Teetering, tilting, peering over On the cusp of something big
But making me feel small
I can’t think “How did I get here?”
Because I am the one responsible
For this edge predicament
Glued to the ground
Unable to make the leap
Madonna singing “Jump”
But cannot be inspired to do so
No use in pushing or shoving
I am permanent fixture on this edge
It’s a lonely old edge and my visitors are few
I can envision my resolution
I just cannot put it into place
The wheels in my head are in motion
While I am a solid statue with a pigeon on my head
I will make the move
I know I will
One day
And throw caution and myself to the wind
And jump back into my life
