The Theatre Season

A Chapter by Mark Lighton

The Theatre Season

Colored leaves lie sleeping on the ground
'till an autumn wind starts them dancing 'round.
A kaleidoscope of colors, a frenzied flurry.
Where are they going in such a hurry?

A chilling blast and winter's here.
The leaf ballet has disappeared.
As the curtain closes in a frosty whirl,
the snowflake faeries dance and twirl.

As Maiden Spring breathes her warming breath,
the snowflake faeries put their show to rest.
Mother Nature's singers come in throngs.
The sparrows and nightingales sing their songs.

Now comes to play "Summer's Big Band",
kept in line by Master Thunder's hand.
While rain and wind their melodies play,
lightning changes the night into day.

As fall silences summer's sound,
the colored leaves return to the ground.
Then the autumn winds begin to blow,
and so begins another year's show.
