Seems So Long Away

Something I wrote on a piece of paper a while ago expressing my depression and anxiety.

To dine is to sleep forever

Forever seems so long away

To sleep in paradise always

Tomorrow may never come

But I depend on certainties

Not predictions yet to come true

To stand still and graze the day

Living one moment to the next

Life itself comes to haunt

To tread among the hours looming

Is this my curse? This paradox

               Waiting around the corner

               Screeching as a madman’s cry

To walk so slowly and bellow

Sighing yet screaming for more

To happen and stand so very still

Wishing for solace at my shore

To sit and wait patiently here

Probing that nautilus tune

To ponder and yet to question

Sleeping well into a gray noon
