My Crutch

My Crutch

A Poem by Michael Stevens
"

My life!

"

My Crutch

It’s a shock when you’re left to fend for yourself

How quickly you realize just how dependant you are

On someone else to take care of you

Simple things that you just took for granted,

Now become mountains that stand in your way

Helpless, so helpless, you can’t find your way

You flounder around like a child, lost in the dark

You’ve always been so independent, and suddenly you’re not
