My Enemy; Doubt

My Enemy; Doubt

A Poem by Michael Stevens
"

What I fight against, everyday

"

My Enemy; Doubt

There’s one state of mind that’s the worst of the worst

Its name is doubt, and it hangs in the air

Right beside me every step of the way

Lurking in shadows, hiding in plain sight

My constant companion; my sworn enemy

Robbing me of hope; bringing dark days

When I tell myself that there’s improvement, no matter how small,

I hear doubt talking, saying no, there’s not

And I can’t afford to think that way

Hope is my life preserver; hope gives me a goal

Without hope, my future looks very bleak indeed
