Out With the Old, In With the Older

Out With the Old, In With the Older

A Poem by Michael Stevens
"

Boredom!

"

Out With the Old, In With the Old

Seems the more things never change, they never change

Same old face getting older all the time

See-saw to nowhere sends you on your way

back where you started, only back a bit

A dead end driveway with no room to turn around

A one way street going directly past your exit

Board the wrong bus; watching as your destination sails by

Helplessly watching as you’re going the wrong direction

Take the wrong flight and it doesn’t matter,

you still end up in the same ghost town

Empty echoes fill your head; empty promises you’ll never keep

Staring at nothing sure hurts the eyes

Drifting reality gives way to desolation

Can’t quite remember the words to a song you used to know by heart

Can’t place the face of a well-known actor

How can time pass so quickly and yet so slow?
