Childhood Snow Dreams

Childhood Snow Dreams

A Poem by Michael Stevens
"

Through an 8-year old's eyes!

Childhood Snow Dreams

Gazing at the sky, begging it to snow

They said on the news it would, but so far ‘no!’

'Please, please let school be cancelled!" he says with a sigh

No ‘adult’ problems; just hear his silent cries

"Oh please, please let it begin now!”

“That winter wonderland; if I just wish hard enough, that’s how!”

No work to get to, no delivery to expect

No important chore that now could be wrecked

Just no school, and white-out fun

He sees only the good; wants to feel his toes go numb

How could the mean old man down the street not feel the same?

How could anyone wish for plain old rain?
