Cold Morning, Cool BeginningsA Poem by Michael StevensMorning on a winter's dayCold Morning; Cool Beginnings
Freezing light peeks through the
blinds,
promising another day with a
voice of wind
Weary rain taps on the cringing
roof,
in a half-hearted drumbeat of
misery
You groan, reluctantly give
into the day,
and grumpily leave the warmth of the
blankets
The unwanted shock as bare feet meet ice-cold linoleum If you weren't awake before, you are now! You open the blinds you hide behind,
and behold a dispirited world;
cold morning; cool beginnings © 2013 Michael Stevens |
