Cold Morning, Cool Beginnings

Cold Morning, Cool Beginnings

A Poem by Michael Stevens
"

Morning on a winter's day

"

Cold Morning; Cool Beginnings

Freezing light peeks through the blinds,

promising another day with a voice of wind

Weary rain taps on the cringing roof,

in a half-hearted drumbeat of misery

You groan, reluctantly give into the day,

and grumpily leave the warmth of the blankets

The unwanted shock as bare feet meet ice-cold linoleum

If you weren't awake before, you are now!

You open the blinds you hide behind,

and behold a dispirited world;

cold morning; cool beginnings

Ugh. Winter mornings. Try walking barefoot on tiles. I would walk on linoleum anytime. I can relate to this. That need to stay in bed, wrapped up in warm blankets, so nice and toasty...

Sometimes, your jokes are lame. But for the most part, you make me laugh :)
