In the Big Scheme of Things...

Not so much a poem, as the way I feel!

In the Big Scheme of Things...

 

 

Seems like only yesterday...I was in high school;

 

struggling to understand myself, and struggling

 

to not embarrass myself, in front of my peers

 

Nothing seemed as important; now, of course,

 

nothing seems less important; well, it’s still important,

 

but in the big scheme of things,

 

 it seems a lot less important.  That saying from, “It’s a Wonderful Life,

 

“Youth is wasted on the wrong people!” is oh-so true!

 

I think back to the person I used to be,

 

and cringe.  If only I had known back then what I know now

 

You know, when you hear that said when you’re younger,

 

you have no idea what it means

 

You chalk it up to a person wishing they were young again

 

Not me, with all the crap kids today have to face?

 

Oh sure, I’d like to be younger, but with keeping the knowledge

 

I’ve learned over the years.  If I had to fend for myself

 

without it, I’d quickly become lost.  No, I wouldn’t

 

trade places with a teenager now days!
