Hockey Stick Warrior!

Hockey Stick Warrior!

A Poem by Michael Stevens
"

What kid can't relate to this?

"

Waging war with a plastic hockey stick for a rifle

The brave 10 year old, who’s name was Mike,

But in his mind it was Sergeant Gravel,

Dispatched the enemy, who were no match

For this warrior’s bravery and skill!

He’d been warring since he awoke,

And he was sure hungry, but he had

A war to fight, and a war to win!

The enemy were clever, but not clever enough

Sergeant Gravel was smiling, as he mowed

Down several more of the hapless, invisible warriors

Suddenly, over his radio, came the voice

Of his commanding officer, “Lunch!”

Suddenly, the war was forgotten as he ran

Up the stairs that led from the battlefield

To the troops’ living quarters above the community hall

As soon as the hot dogs were gone,

He’d go back downstairs; then it was, “Look out, enemy!”
