Standing Still; Running Scared

Battling my demons!

I look at how long it’s been,

 

And a cold dread washes over me

 

All the things I still haven’t overcome;

 

Scare me to distraction

 

I keep telling myself, “soon!”

 

But ‘soon’ had lasted all these years

 

I think, “just put your head down

 

And keep moving ahead”,

 

But I’m moving more sideways than

 

Ahead.  I’m starting to wonder if the doctor was right,

 

When she told me, “what you’ve got, is what you’ve got,”

 

As in I’ll never get back to where I was,

 

And that’s just unacceptable to me

 

But what if all my fighting is for nothing?

Fighting is never for nothing. Never listen to what people say when they tell you what you can and cannot do. Soon can become now; you just need to work on it a bit. One little piece at a time.

The only things I haven't quite overcome yet is my fear of water and Anubis. You can laugh at those if you want. As for my demons...well, a little piece at a time :)
