Are We Seeing the Same World?

Are We Seeing the Same World?

A Poem by Michael Stevens
"

Life!

"

You see it as black and I see it as white

A totally different view comes to our eyes

Apparently, we’re viewing a vastly-different thing,

and the bells we hear have a completely different ring

You don’t understand my views, nor I yours

We’re miles apart, behind locked and barred doors

Sometimes, I catch a glimpse of you through the trees,

but then you’re gone from sight; I’m doubting the images I see

We suddenly seem like we’re on different planets

This is about as frustrating as it gets

It’s like you’re speaking a totally foreign language,

I’m trying to reach you while locked in a cage

I’m chasing after you waist-deep in the mud

The distance keeps getting wider, I’d catch up if I could

I keep wanting to wake from this terrible dream,

but this nightmare is real, at least so it would seem
