Thief

Thief

A Poem by Michael Stevens
"

More of life!

"

A thief broke into my brain and stole everything,

all the experience I’d carefully saved up over the years

Left nothing but hooks hanging, where pictures once were

I’d call the police, but what could I say?

“Yes, officer, I done been robbed; someone

broke in and took everything!”

Well, sir, did you happen to notice anything to help

us track the thief down?”

“Well, when I awoke to a revving engine, and realized

everything was gone, I looked out the window,

and with squealing tires, a van with ‘The Time Bandit’

written on the side roared away up the street.”

"Well sir, that same thief has hit a lot of others too

We’ll look into it, but frankly, if I were you,

I wouldn’t hold my breath.”

No, I think it’s so common, I’m just s**t out of luck!
