From my Window

From my Window

A Poem by Michael Stevens
"

The view from my window

"

Looking out over an overcast day

Watching an aged man shuffle down the street

Seeing young kids riding their bikes,

In such a rush to get nowhere fast

Spying a lonely soul looking forlornly

Out their window; hoping for better days

A bitter housewife with resignation in her eyes

Sweeps the walk; how did her life get this way?

A businessman heads for the mini van

To start yet-another day; coffee cup’s a life preserver

Young lovers part; it is such sweet sorrow,

Until the end of the day; and they see each other again

I see all this happening, day after day, from my window
