Silence and the StormA Poem by Michael StevensThe solitude and the powerSilence and the Storm
You’re aimlessly walking; no destination in mind, miles from nowhere on the edge of the world, You often come here to leave your troubles behind, and be alone so you can think Nothing but lonely miles to keep you company You’re enjoying the solitude, and the peace and
quiet when the sky seems to darken as you watch Angry clouds gather in the steel-blue sky; ominous, ominous, but you’re reluctant to leave, wind suddenly raging, then you feel the first drops
of rain Then, from very far away, a white-light flash, followed by an angry voice a few seconds later Nowhere to take refuge; nowhere to hide You’re at the mercy of nature, and nature appears
angry
