Last Light

Last Light

A Poem by Michael Stevens
"

Not sure if this works, or is just plain weird!

"

I'm straining to see though twilight's haze;

just a fleeting glimpse, or was it there at all?

A face familiar, yet now a stranger,

the actions seemingly remembered, yet

now unfamiliar; just going through the motions,

like those are remembered,

yet forgotten breaths breathed through

the eyes of someone else

Inertia keeps moving ahead, but dreams

falling behind; ears straining to hear,

a distant melody, that sounds the rhythm

of a long-ago song; the soundtrack of what

might have been; what was supposed to be
