On the Edge of the Abyss

On the Edge of the Abyss

A Poem by Michael Stevens
"

Teetering above disaster!

"

Take careful steps, for you're one step from disaster

One wrong move, and it's all she wrote

Turn the wrong way, and it's a long way down

Take care with your decisions, you're balancing right

on the edge of the abyss; only darkness below

You're working without a net, and you're not secured

It's a treacherous accent, as you slowly work upwards,

each handhold needs to be well-thought out,

each step well-planned; you're just inches from a

plunge into the dark; one wrong step from oblivion
