MoodsA Poem by Michael StevensHow your mood effects what you write.
Sitting here contemplating the thin
line between happy and mad
how fragile is a good mood, and how
permanent a bad one feels
When you're in a good one, words
flow so easily;
When you're in a bad one, not so
much
Of course, that's just me, it may
be different for you;
I just find it almost impossible to
concentrate when I'm down
My train of thought left the
station an hour ago, sans me!
Reflective pondering is another
state of mind,
asking who, what, and where, and
usually receiving no reply
Happy or reflective pondering make
for creative writing;
angry makes for a tougher road,
because it's so
hard not to rant and rave and lash
out; it's so easy
to sound close-minded,
small-minded, and downright vindictive
when under the influence of this
emotion; yet, for me, in a way,
it makes it easier, I just don't
write; sounds simple, right?
Unfortunately, anger also leads to
lack of focus and judgment,
so sometimes I attempt to write
under the influence of wrath;
and when I do, invariably, it leads
to regret! © 2013 Michael StevensReviews
