Out Of Tune!A Story by Michael StevensStory? Poem? No?
If my life was a song, it'd be like
that so out of tune
3-string guitar Uncle Dieter keeps
in his attic,
collecting dust, right next to the
1972 14-inch
black and white T.V with Rabbit Ears,
the
ugliest sweater know to mankind
that he
keeps around just in case Aunt
Daisy comes
to visit and asks her brother if he
still has it;
after all, it took her hours to
knit. (He still looks
at it and bursts out laughing, it's
so hideous!), the game of
Twister that he vowed never to play
again after
getting naked one night while
drinking, and
making a total fool out of himself
in front
of Grandma Edith, and his
collection of out-of-date
video games, such as Pong; everything
else would sell
at a garage sale, except my life,
and possibly
the sweater. Goodwill would return me, with a
nasty note pinned to my forehead
saying, "Not a chance;
nice try!" I'm The Song of the Hapless, in the key of L for loser! © 2013 Michael StevensReviews
