Dear WinifredA Story by Michael StevensAn advice column!Warning; advice given is NOT politically correct! "Dear Winifred, I have a problem I
need your advice on; recently, my father-in-law lost his job at an automobile
plant, and now my husband has asked me if my father-in-law can move into our
spare bedroom in order to save money. I'm
worried that having him living here will be awkward, and put unbearable strain
on our relationship. I feel for him, and
realize how upsetting this must be for my father-in-law, but I'm feeling
put-upon, and stuck in the middle. What
should I say? Signed, In a Quandary."
"Dear In a Quandary, you sound like a
cold one. I mean, good lord, the man
just lost the one thing that made him feel like a man, and here you are,
selfishly worried about it affecting you negatively. Unless he walks around with his spud hanging
out, and losing his job has made that highly unlikely, you need to quit
worrying about yourself, and put yourself in his place. I mean, it's obvious you need professional
help for so many things, chief among them the selfish crap, that I suggest you
find counseling, and quit crying to me, an adviser in a newspaper column, and
quit whining! Winifred." © 2013 Michael Stevens |
