Dear Winifred; Nov. 5A Story by Michael StevensAdvice (NOT good!) column!
Warning; advice given is NOT politically correct!
"Dear Winifred, my in laws are
driving me crazy; I love my wife, but her parents? Not so much.
They come to visit, and I feel they're taking advantage of our
hospitality. My wife slaves over a hot
stove for hours, trying to make them a great meal, and they pantomime barfing
gestures when they taste it. They say
things like, "Oh we notice you've been so busy you haven't had time to
keep up on the housework," to both of us, but looking at my wife when
they're saying it. I hate the way they
treat all of us, but especially my wife.
Our children hate when Grandpa and Grandma come to visit. They're both treated less than fairly. All I want is for her parents to treat them as
equals. What do you think; am I being unreasonable? Signed Not Treated Well."
"Dear Not Treated Well, I'll have to
remember that gagging pantomime the next time I'm eating at someone else's
house and they serve dog crap for dinner.
Have you ever considered that your wife really is a terrible cook, and
this is your in laws way of letting her know without embarrassing her by saying
so? Same with the household chores; I
mean, maybe your wife has gotten used to the house looking like a leaking
outhouse, and needs to learn by hints from your in laws that it's unacceptable? Besides, she shouldn't have to do it all; you
could get off your dead a*s and help once in a while. And, I've got news for you, your kids aren't
equals, they're more than likely little rodent pain-in-the-asses who get on
your in laws nerves, something fierce. If you'd stop feeling like a victim and learn
to listen to your in laws once in a while, I think you'll find that they know a
lot more than you're giving them credit for.
Winifred."
