The Boy in the Mirror

The Boy in the Mirror

A Poem by Michael Stevens
"

My life

"

Smiling face, golden hair; no weight of the world

on his shoulders; no cares etched upon his face,

Looking forward; trusting blue eyes see never ending joy

on the horizon; he's such a contrast to the man in the mirror;

same person, years apart; many a thousand smiles ago;

many a thousand tears ago; seems like many a thousand years,

many a thousand hurts ago; what would he say if he

knew the twists and turns ahead; knew the ups and downs;

knew the joys tempered by pain; knew the struggles that will

comprise his life?  Would he still be smiling?

It's lucky we can't see the future...mirrors would never smile back...

Unfortunately, sometimes for myself, you're right!
Life is not all sunshine and rainbows and for good reason, we wouldn't be living if that were the case. Embrace hardship for that's where you grow. When cruising easy street no growth or learning takes place. I'd still be smiling, because I'm still standing and taking what this life has to offer.

Yeah, know you're right. I was just in a reflective (whiny?) mood yesterday!
