When the Sun Rises in the West...

Getting thrown a curveball

"

Complete and utter surprise is what you feel

 

when the words don't match the words you were expecting,

 

not even close; you expected one thing, and got another;

 

you think you know what to expect;

 

but suddenly you're thrown for a loop, spinning

 

into a light-less void of uncharted waters; flailing

 

around, tying to keep your head above water;

 

drowning in uncertainty; choking and sputtering;

 

alone

What inspired this piece? Are you describing the American voter? Expect one thing, but receiving another. Trying to keep our heads above water only to be swept further out to sea by bigger and more frequent waves.
