Oh Walter, Where Art Thou?

Oh Walter, Where Art Thou?

A Poem by Michael Stevens
"

The T.V. news void!

"

You've gone away Walter, leaving a morass

Of mediocrity; a pathetic imitation of your style

The Evening News is, sadly, no more

No talking heads with an ounce of your integrity or

Your credibility, no, they feed the insatiable

Desire for entertainment; so maybe the fault lies

Not with your leaving, but with us

If we were entertained by facts, not sensationalism and

Truth not speculation, maybe it would be alright,

But alas, tis not the case; Walter; I'll give you;

Well, I've only got $10 on me right now,

But it's yours if you'd return to the anchor's chair

A few, very few, try real journalism,

But are quickly shouted down by screaming voices

All we're left with is an exciting cover, but an empty book
