Dealing with rejection

 

     I know you haven't heard from me for quite awhile, but the past memories you conjure up in me are just too painful for me to face.  I realize how it looks, but not keeping in contact is the only way I can see for dealing with it.  Whether you're a past girlfriend or just a friend of hers, I'm taking the coward's way out.  I want to know nothing of what's happening now.  It's my way of putting my hands over my ears and saying, "La, la, la, la!" loudly.  If I hear nothing, I can pretend whatever I want.  So please, don't be hurt by my silence.  I'm just keeping the past at arm's length.

Any past left unresolved will continue to haunt you if you do not deal with it head on. The only cure to your past, is accepting that we can't change what laid behind. You can't change it physically, but you can change it mentally. You need to be aware of your past so that you can learn to deal and prevent that from happening in the future
