Dear Winifred; Feb. 26A Story by Michael StevensAdvice (NOT good!) columnWarning;
advice given is NOT politically correct!
"Dear Winifred, I had a very
traumatic experience the other day; I answered a phone call, and the person on
the other end asked me to take a survey; and as I didn't want to appear rude, I
agreed. The very first question she asked
was, "What radio station do you listen to?" I answered truthfully that I don't listen to
the radio. She must have thought I was
being sarcastic, since after a pause, her reply was 'Then you must be
'expletive' (rhymes with trucking,) stupid!" and hung up. I feel bad that she thought I was being
sarcastic, as that's not me. Signed

"Dear Definitely Not Being Sarcastic,
first of all, rhymes with 'trucking'? I
don't know what you mean. Moving beyond
that, you showed much greater restraint than I would have. As soon as she let me know it was for a
survey, my answer would have very much been true sarcasm. Something along the lines of "Oh, this
is a survey huh? Why don't you (rhymes
with 'beat') me!" and slammed down the receiver, thereby giving her no
opportunity to hang up on your a*s.
These telemarketers; f**k 'em!
Winifred." © 2014 Michael Stevens |
