Hit By the Train (of Our Thoughts)

The train in our minds!

There exists inside us all two sets of railroad tracks

 

That lead exactly nowhere; yet we arrive

 

Each day at the station, even though it's

 

Been closed for repairs, or should be!

 

"Regret now boarding on Track 5!"

 

"Guilt now boarding on Track 6; all aboard!"

 

On we climb, for this ride to nowhere

 

We order a snack and sit back

 

To watch the scarred landscape

 

Passing by outside our window

 

The scenes never can change,

 

But we try hard, that we  

 

Might somehow change them

 

On and on the train rolls; as we watch the movie

 

Provided by our imagination

 

Why do we do this to ourselves?
