Cold Wind Blowing

Cold Wind Blowing

A Poem by Michael Stevens
"

The media blizzard

"

Teeth chattering, pull the coat tighter, seeking shelter

From the storm that's raging; yet you're fighting a losing battle

There is no refuge from nothing but the bad news

Showing on every news channel, at the same time

The reporters take a glimmer of hope and crush it,

Along with you, in an effort to keep you tuned in

After commercials for erectile dysfunction pills and

Being as gross and crude as possible while

You're trying to eat, they are back with all

The gloom and doom that they've deemed

Important, important enough to show over

And over, while 'experts' make sure you know

There's never been a time more dangerous;

That we're right on the precipice; and one wrong move will

Spell disaster; and then, just to heighten the drama,

And for their more clueless viewers, they spell disaster!
