The View From My FaceA Poem by Michael StevensMy view of a shadow filled worldMy view of the nasty old world
Is not good; it's enough to bring
Nightmares to your eyes; people
killing
People in the name of a peaceful
God
Their perverted interpretation of
an
Ancient text; somehow, they think
It's not a contradiction to call
themselves
Religious on one hand, and think
It's okay to kill anyone who
doesn't
Believe exactly as they do on the other
Black man in the White House equals
Unacceptable for some; but they're
not racists;
No, they just disagree with his
policies;
They say this out of one side of
their mouth;
While they're spouting hate-filled rhetoric
Out of the other; it sure seems to
me
code for, "He's not my president!"
Yes, the view from my face is all turbulence And trouble; I realize that's not a
healthy Way to see things, but oh well!
