Life of the Party

Life of the Party

A Poem by Michael Stevens
"

Robin Williams

"

Rapid fire one liners from seemingly thin air

So quick with your thoughts it took our breath away

Incredibly fast mind; the perfect one liner,

Every time; how does he do it, you'd ask yourself

A once-in-a-lifetime talent; you could only wish

To be even 1/8th as good; 1/12th

Always on, always the clown, you'd expect funny,

You'd expect to be entertained

Then one day it apparently became too much

For you, you tired of always being the life of the party,

The party is over for you my friend

The lampshade on the head hid a very much darker

Side; one that nobody wanted to see

We turned to you for an escape from reality,

Not to be reminded of it; 'make us laugh,'

Humor-on-demand; Robin, what demons

You must have lived with; none of us will

Ever understand; I'm sorry you were so unhappy

That you took the only way out you could see

The world lost a true talent, nay, a talented genius

A fitting tribute to Robin my friend. We all loved him but his demons got the better of him.Behind his smile hid such sadness. He will be missed :)
