My Dark Shadow FriendA Poem by Michael StevensMy buddy!I sometimes catch his reflection in
the mirror of truth
My dark shadow friend; Guilt is his
name,
Casts his darkness over everything
I do
Funny, I never see his lips
move,
But he whispers in my ear,
"It's somehow your fault."
He feeds on my joy, yet he is never satisfied,
He's the black hole where joy goes
to die!
I know I shouldn't listen, but his
voice
Is like the siren's call, leading
me onto destructive shoals
