T.V. DinnerA Poem by Michael StevensThe fricking media!A veritable feast awaits my eyes
Something to eat that's not made
with lies
A place to pork out on the news of
the day,
Where I can fill up on the words
they say
A wholesome meal, that's good for
me
Straight-shooting, unvarnished and
opinion-free
A place that's filling, and not
just junk
No tuxedo waiters who look down
their nose and all that gunk
I need something substantial, because
believe it or not
I'm not here for a news appetizer
or dessert and all that rot
I actually use my brain; not here
for just a snack
That's why I watch this
full-service news place, it never lacks
For real news pieces; no Jenner or
Kardashian s**t,
Wait a minute, this isn't what I
ordered; this is just a bit
Of actual, important, relevant news
floating on a sea of lightweight stuff,
Stuff that has no business on the
news; this is just fluff
Waiter, take this crap back and
bring me the Walter Cronkite Plate,
Sure, it may be past due, but at
least to that, I can relate!
