(If At First You're Not Funny; Pack Up The Tent And Shut the Hell Up!)

 

 

You know, comedy takes lots and lots of practice

 

Take me for example, please;---ah, waka, waka, waka!

 

See, now that right there should have been funny,

 

But, because I've got the sense of humor of a South American Dictator

 

It just lays there like my date for senior prom

 

Oh well, at least I don't have to buy it dinner!

 

They say comedy can't be taught, and I should have listened,

 

Cause I'm 52, and still walking across campus

 

Like an ancient loser who begs for loose change, cause I can't

 

Graduate; "See kids?  Do you want to wind up like

 

That guy?"  If at first you're not funny, pack up the tent and

 

Shut the hell up!

Everyone has talents, unfortunately being funny isn't in everyone's cards!

Well yes. YOu either have the gift for humor, or you don't. You may not think you have that gift, but I've know you to write some very funny stuff. I certainly am not a natural humorist, but even so, I can do it sometimes.

This reminded me of Bob Monkhouse - the most prolific gag writer and comedian ever to come out of the U.K. who famously quipped in his stand-up routine
"When I told people that I wanted to be a comedian they laughed. They're not laughing now!"

Being a clown/joker/comedian is hard and I agree you have to have 'funny bones' - it called natural ability. This is funny in a funny reflective way I thought.
