No HopeA Poem by Michael StevensToday's politics
No hope that anything will change,
No hope in the political game
No hope because the game is rigged
we play
Same tired cliche's are uttered by
the insincere, who say
What they have to just to get
reelected,
While we sheep wait for the change we
expected
Based on the bullshit lies we were
fed,
The impossible promises that the
politician said,
That they had absolutely no intention of honoring,
That they never intended to follow
through on, it's just more boring
Status quo; now I ask you, who's fault is that?
Not the politician whose simply
getting fat
Feeding at the trough; no, it's
ours, for wanting to believe
Lambs to the slaughter, ripe to be
deceived
We thought we had found a champion
for a new tomorrow,
A good man beaten down by the empty
souls who deal only in sorrow
The cold reality is that they don't
want anything to change,
The political dog is suffering from
mange
